Terms of Use

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using Staira, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use Staira. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this requirement. Accounts found to belong to users under 16 will be removed.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.

4. Content You Upload

By uploading books or other content to Staira, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to display, distribute, and promote that content on the platform. You retain full ownership and copyright. You must have all necessary rights to upload the content.

5. Prohibited Content and Conduct

You may not upload, publish, or share any of the following, whether as a book, a post, a comment, a review, or profile content:

• Sexually explicit or pornographic material, including written erotica
• Any content that sexualises or endangers minors
• Content that promotes, glorifies, or incites violence, hatred, or discrimination
• Content that infringes third-party intellectual property rights
• Content that is illegal, harmful, deceptive, or misleading
• Content that promotes self-harm, suicide, or disordered eating

You may not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the platform, nor use it to harass or abuse other users. Staira reviews reported content and removes material that breaches these Terms. Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent termination without refund.

6. Purchases

All sales are final. Digital books are delivered immediately upon successful payment. Refunds may be issued at our discretion in cases of technical failure. Hardcover orders are subject to our delivery confirmation process, and buyers may report delivery problems through the app.

7. Author Earnings

Authors receive 93% of the sale price of each book sold. A 7% service and processing fee is deducted automatically. Payouts are subject to withdrawal fees and the clearance periods described in your author dashboard.

8. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time via the account settings or by contacting [email protected].

9. Limitation of Liability

Staira and Wales Creatives Ltd are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Lagos State.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of Staira after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
